The Sharpnose Puffer, Canthigaster rostrata, inhabits the Caribbean and extends southward to Venezuela. This species is characterized by a brown dorsal area, a white underbelly, and blue stripes near its caudal fin. Typically found alone or in pairs on seaward reefs, they feed on crustaceans and various invertebrates.
While generally considered safe for reef aquariums, they should not be housed with delicate invertebrates like Venus shrimp or Pom-Pom Crabs. Their diet should be omnivorous, including both crustaceans and other meaty foods, along with occasional servings of seaweed or macro-algae.
The Sharpnose Puffer grows up to 4 inches in size and is usually peaceful towards other aquarium inhabitants.
